We say hello to Golfsnack!

I guess many of you already know them, as they have a nice following on Instagram. We are very excited to hear more about the Golfsnack community.

It's fun to be able to ask you some questions; would you like to start by telling us a little about yourself?

There are actually 4 of us behind Golfsnack, but there are two of us brave souls who are responsible for the Instagram account, and that's Niklas & Robin. In addition to that, we have Kim & Christer who work on building our community. But if we start with me (Niklas) and Robin who have been behind Golfsnack from the beginning, we are two reasonably thick men in our prime! We both have partners and children. Golfsnack is still just a side project, so in our daily lives, we work together at Smiling Faces. We live on opposite sides of our home course, Viksjö GK. In terms of golf, we are both highly mediocre and work a lot more on "buns and beer" than we grind on the range.

What is the idea behind Golfsnack?
Robin started the Instagram account Golfsnack when he started playing golf 5 years ago. I took up golf a year or so later after a 20+ year break. I played quite a lot, so I jumped in and helped him with content. Since then, it has just grown and grown. For a few years, we have been working on an activity-based community. That's where Kim & Christer come in. They handle the building while Robin and I make unreasonable demands about what we want. The idea with both Instagram and the community is to be a platform where everyone in golf has a place. Players of all levels, clubs, big golf brands, small start-up brands, coaches – we want to fit everyone under the same roof!

Do you play a lot of golf yourself, and where do you usually play?

There has been a fair bit of golf. I've played about 70 rounds each year for the last 3 years. Robin is a bit worse and is probably around 45-50, maybe. We play a lot at Viksjö, and then I also play many rounds at Sunne GK; I have a summer house there. Then we try to travel around a bit and visit other courses as much as we can and have time for. However, it ends up being a lot in the Stockholm area. We do have plans to head down towards Skåne and check out their dream courses down there eventually, but we'll see when that happens.

What is your take on golf courses that have a dress code?

We are definitely the new school here! Dress well, no matter what that means. A hoodie and joggers often look more proper than a tired polo with sleeves that are too long and a poor fit.

How do you think golf can be developed to attract more people?
Do we need to attract more? You can barely get out as it is. 🙂 Jokes aside, we advocate for a more relaxed attitude towards golf in general. We like a bit of music out on the round, maybe "a" cold beer in the bag. Today, it's still a bit too stiff. But we are moving in the right direction; more and more people are finding golf. We hope it lasts even after the pandemic.

Who do you think will win the Masters this year?
Hovland or Finau!

We say a big thank you to Golfsnack. If you don't follow them on Instagram yet, go in and do so:https://www.instagram.com/golfsnack/
